Restrictions of Cargo Acceptance - India

• Narcotics / Drugs
• Live Animals and endangered species, animals e.g. shark fins, peacock feather.
• Arms and Ammunition
• Explosive Items
• Battery Waste
• Plastic waste & scrap & Municipal Waste
• Used Vehicles with left hand drive (Unused without Transfer of Residence is allowed but to be checked with POD prior to acceptance)
• Old Magazines
• Old Tires & Rubber scarp
• Ivory and its other products
• Rags (woolen or any other type)
• Currency Coins/Notes
• Used Lubricating Oil (Unused Oil - please check POD prior acceptance)
• Crude Naphtha
• Waste Oil and Used Furnace Oil
• Beef and Beef contained products
• All type of scrap arriving from warzone area.
• Beverages containing alcohol is banned to import in Gujarat State therefore not to accept cargo for discharge and delivery for Mundra (INMUN), Kandla (INXKD), Pipavav (INPIP), Ahmedabad (INZHD) & Hazira (INHAZ)
• No Household Goods & Personal Effects can be accepted at ICD Ahmedabad (INZHD), Jaipur (INJAI) & Jodhpur (INJDH)
• For Chennai(INCEN)/Kattupalli (INKAT) : Any type of donated goods, Medical Relief donated goods, used computers, donated computers, old/used digital photo copier machines and accessories.
• For Kattupalli (INKAT): Any metal scrap in un-shredded form is not acceptable.
• For Tuticorin (INTUT): Used copier machinery, betel nut, personal effects/used household articles from Arabian Persian Gulf sector.
• For Kolkata: Personal household items and charitable/donation goods.
• For Bengaluru (INICB): Metal scrap (Tin, iron, steel and aluminum) is prohibited by customs.
• For Nhava Sheva (INNXV): Drugs & medicines dutiable goods imported by passengers, Stuffed animals, birds, worked ivory ,bone, tortoise shell, under heading of army of heading 9307 revolvers and pistols, telescopic sights for fitting to army, passive night vision goggles, aircraft spacecraft and parts these of heading 8801,8802 radio activity.

Conditional Cargo Acceptance:

List of Regulated Commodities that needs to double check with EGI prior to release of booking confirmation.

• Chickpeas & All type of other Peas such as Yellow peas, Green peas, Dun peas and Kaspa peas

• For Kandla (INXKD): Used clothes to be accepted only upon the confirmation from POD office.
• Plastic toys are restricted to import in Kandla (INXKD) and Mundra (INMUN).
• For All India Import Shipments: Metal scraps in un shredded compressed or loose form is accompanied by pre-shipment inspection certificate which should be submitted by Shipper/Booking Party before on board of shipment and the certificate copy along with B/L data should be sent to POD office at the time of B/L data transmission to submit the same to customs for their reference. If any lapse or deviation on the procedure, POL/Booking Office should be fully responsible for all consequences/penalty, etc.
• Personal Effects can be accepted at ICD Bengaluru (INICB) and Chennai (INCEN) from all sectors except Arabian Persian Gulf, Red sea & African ports.
• Household Goods & Personal Effects are permitted to Marmagoa (INMRM) discharge subject to shipper, consignee and notify party should be the same. Cargo is not permitted to factory de-stuffing so goods must be de-stuffed at port itself under supervision of Customs, in order to verify with packing list and customs duty if any. Carriers responsibility ceases once cargo de-stuffed under customs supervision.

Plant Quarantine Restriction :

• No import consignment packed with any kind of material of plant origin used for packing, including hay, straw, wooden planks, coir pith, peat or sphagnum moss etc… shall be released by the proper customs officer on duty at the docks to the importer unless the consignment is accompanied by a phytosanitary certificate in respect of the above said packaging materials.
• Requirement of “Phytosanitary Certificate” for the cargo Teak Wood, Seeds and Living plants: For the Import clearance process of the cargo like Teak Wood, seeds and living plants, in order to obtain No Objection Certificate from PQ (Plant Quarantine) authority, consignee must submit "Phytosanitary Certificate", prescribed under the International Plant Protection Convention of the Food & Agricultural Organization and issued by an authorized officer at the country of origin of consignment, which should be submitted by shipper/booking party before on board of the shipment and the certificate copy along with BL data should be sent to POD office at the time of BL data transmission to submit the same to customs for their reference.

Import of Toys in India:

The imports of Toys in India must have certificate of conformance from the manufacture which is mandatory with following documents or else Customs clearance will be withheld. Ensure the proper certification is in place before accepting shipment to India containing commodity "TOYS"

• Certificate from Manufacturer stating Toys being imported into India are tested by an independent Laboratory which accredited under International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC).
• The laboratory certificate also link the Toys in the consignment to the period of manufacture indicated in Certificate of Conformity.

  • EN 71
